Artist's Notes

I am inspired by the courage and fantasy that Lyndon had as a child in telling her sisters a story to distract them from an impending tragedy. I have included this option in my sketch design but not the maquette though the small white horse flying like a shimmering comet is represented. These extra elements ground the Mary Poppins figure in history and locate the statue in Bowral. I have proposed the option of making the statue of Mary Poppins in bronze coloured with a multi-patina to give it a magical and optimistic quality.
